Tiemex was founded by Frank Tiemissen and Jan de Graaf on 9 November 1989. Both gentlemen had been active in the transport sector for years already. At the time they were unable to implement their unique vision of how to run a transport business while with their then employer. Consequently, they decided to establish a new logistics firm, which was to be responsible for transport to southern Germany initially. During the early stages Tiemex did not have any vehicles of its own and therefore worked together with independent drivers. The number of trips rapidly rose to 40 a week.
In 1993 Tiemex leased its own shed and commenced domestic transport. In 1994 the company bought its own building in Edisonstraat in the Hengelder industrial estate in Zevenaar. During the years that followed Tiemex evolved into a stable, healthy company with about 20 members of staff. Growth continued and the transport operations of a company in Nijmegen were acquired in 2003. Following a fire in 2004, which reduced a large part of the shed in Zevenaar to ash, the logistics centre in that town was completely rebuilt, expanded and fitted out as best possible.Tiemex specialises in acting as a freight agent and provides transport within the Benelux, the German-speaking countries, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. Every day more than 30 truck combinations drive throughout Europe on our instructions. In addition we provide customised services, storage and transshipment for hundreds of customers and the volume of transport varies from several packages each year to numerous containers.
